Sirkeci Balıkçısı is a typical “meyhane”, a traditional turkish restaurant serving special meze plates, fresh seafood, and traditional spirits  such as Raki and local wine.  The word “meyhane” is composed of “mey” (wine) and “hane” (house). In Meyhanes, local people meet at nights to drink and chat (just like in pubs).
